As soon as water polo Junior Olympics wraps up, most clubs take a few weeks off from rest and recovery. But down in Long Beach, things are just starting to heat up for Beach Water Polo.
Robert Lynn, Nick Baba and Kahuna Events have been hosting this annual August tournament for almost 2 decades. There are teams ranging from 10u all the way up through masters level. Ages are set as of August 1st of the current year.
The rules are similar to FINA water polo… just faster with more touches. The teams are either 3 or 4 field players with a single goalie. Most matches last 25 minutes with shoot-outs to settle ties expeditiously. First team to 5 goals wins the game, and first team to win 3 games wins the match.
