Renovation of Clarke Memorial Swim Center

March 9, 2024

We love our local aquatics so no surprise that the most recent Walnut Creek city council meeting went well past the stroke of midnight discussing the renovation of Walnut Creek’s Clarke Memorial Swim Center, a public aquatic facility in dire need of modernization. Competitive swimmers and coaches advocate for ample space dedicated to lap swimming and competitions, whereas casual users and aquatic fitness classes have their own needs for pool time. The Walnut Creek City Council is grappling with reconciling these divergent interests while adhering to budgetary constraints. The project is funded through a voter-approved sales tax hike, but some residents feel these funds should be channeled towards other priorities.

The City Council is set to convene again on March 19th to further deliberate on this matter. Click here to read more….
