On September 29th, the Yolo Women’s Water Polo Masters team made history, playing our inaugural game at the Burgess Aquatic Center against the seasoned Menlo Mavens. This local team, with its rich history and fierce spirit, provided the perfect opponents for our first official competition. Spirits were high as both teams dove into the match, setting the tone for a friendly yet competitive rivalry that we hope will continue for years to come.
Decked out in our sleek Yolo swimsuits and matching game caps, we made a statement in and out of the water. The energy and camaraderie among teammates were unmatched, and every player brought their A-game to the pool. From powerful drives to perfectly timed passes, our team showed grit and determination. The stands buzzed with support as the game unfolded, showcasing the growth and excitement surrounding women’s water polo in our community.
After the match, the Menlo Mavens graciously hosted a post-game breakfast that was nothing short of spectacular—a delicious spread that fueled post-game conversations and forged new friendships. It was a reminder of what makes this sport so special: the connections we build and the memories we create.
