What a way to wrap up the winter season! After a grueling but rewarding marathon of three tournament weekends in a row, Yolo Polo descended upon Irvine for the Kap7 International. While the Southern California weather was a shock to the system—85 degrees in late January?!—the performance in the pool was even hotter.
Our athletes showed incredible resilience, closing out the season with some of our best water polo yet. Here is how the weekend unfolded for our three competing squads:
Yolo 10u Black: Gritty 5th Place Finish
The 10u Black team continues to prove they can compete with the best programs in the country. Throughout the weekend, they showed remarkable poise and tactical growth, battling through a tough bracket to secure a solid 5th place finish. Their defensive communication and transition game reached new heights in Irvine.

Yolo 10u Yellow: Bronze Medalists
It was a podium weekend for the 10u Yellow squad! This group has shown immense progress over the last month, and it all clicked at Kap7. Their teamwork and unselfish play earned them a well-deserved Bronze medal. A huge thank you to Nick for capturing the action!

Yolo 12u Mixed: Champions!
Our 12u Mixed team absolutely “ran the gauntlet” this weekend. Facing off against top-tier competition, they stayed composed under pressure and played with a level of intensity that was unmatched. When the final whistle blew, they stood on top of the podium with a 1st place finish. It was a masterclass in team-first water polo. Shout out to Walter for the fantastic video coverage!

Closing the Chapter on Winter
This triple-header of tournaments has been a testament to the dedication of our players, coaches, and families. Standing in the sun in Irvine, watching our teams compete with such heart, was the perfect conclusion to our Winter Season.
We are taking this momentum straight into Spring. The growth we’ve seen in these few short weeks is just the beginning.
