Yesterday was not just a day of water polo competition… but the grand release of water polo, Yolo-style.
Remember back in February 2024, when we were just a twinkle in the water? Well, fast-forward less than 20 months, and we just sent a phenomenal SEVEN teams, almost 70 athletes, into the deep end for some serious competitive action!
The 5th Annual Water Polo Pacific Zone Championship saw us throw down with three formidable 12u teams.
* Our 12u Girls Team showed grit, grace, and an uncanny ability to score when it mattered. They proved they belong at the top, tying for first place after going 3-0 against some tough competition.
* Then there were the 12u boys. Both teams played that signature “Yolo-Style” water polo—which, for the uninitiated, means high-energy, high-IQ, and high-fives. Pizza points!
* The 12u Boys Black Team didn’t just compete; they cooked. Going undefeated against some of the top teams in the entire Pacific Water Polo Zone, they brought home the Championship trophy! Throttle up!
Meanwhile, our future stars, the 10u teams, were busy being absolutely vivacious at the Fall Fun Water Polo Tournament. It was a perfect display of what makes this club special: lots of hustle, incredible teamwork, and plenty of smiles. These athletes remind us that the joy of the game is just as important as the win.
Bottom line? The chatter is official. We’ve earned our stripes. The Yolo Water Polo Club has staked its claim as one of the most competitive youth organizations in the Pacific Zone and beyond. We’re not just building a club; we’re building a legacy of excellence.
If you represent another fabulous club out there, take note: We’re looking for more action! We’d love to set up some “friendlies”—any time, any location (within comfortable driving distance, because let’s be honest, our athletes are juggling more activities than a circus performer). Let’s play some polo!
