After a tense, back-and-forth first half that saw multiple penalty shots traded, Yolo clamped down defensively in the second half, shutting down Lōkahi’s attack while pulling away to secure the win.

First Quarter: Trading Punches Early

Annie set an energetic tone right out of the gate by winning the opening swim-off, though Lōkahi struck first via a 5-meter penalty at 1:39. Yolo responded immediately when Audrey fired home her first goal at 2:36 to tie it 1–1. After Lōkahi reclaimed a brief lead, Audrey answered again to level the score at 2–2. Momentum swung Yolo’s way late in the period when William forced an opponent exclusion and Justin drew a critical 5-meter penalty; William calmly buried the resulting shot to give Yolo a 3–2 lead heading into the first break.

Second Quarter: A Penalty-Heavy Battle

Annie secured her second consecutive swim-off win to start the second quarter, but Lōkahi battled back, tying the game 3–3 on a 5-meter conversion. Following a sequence where Tristan drew both an exclusion and a 5-meter penalty, Yuga broke the deadlock with a fantastic goal to make it 4–3. Lōkahi managed to swing the momentum back with a pair of goals—including another 5-meter strike—to take a 5–4 lead. Refusing to trail at the half, Audrey came up clutch again, netting her third goal of the half at 10:03 to send the teams into halftime deadlocked at 5–5.

Third Quarter: Defensive Lockdown

After a tightly contested first half, Yolo’s defense took absolute center stage in the third quarter. Though Annie dropped the opening sprint, Yolo completely shut out the Lōkahi attack. The lone score of the frame came when Declan found a crucial opening and buried a brilliant goal, putting Yolo back in front and reclaiming a 6–5 advantage heading into the final period.

Fourth Quarter: Closing Out the Win

Carrying a narrow lead into the fourth, Yolo expanded their cushion. Following a lost swim-off, Tristan ignited the offense with a fantastic goal to make it 7–5. After Tristan drew another major opponent exclusion moments later, he capitalized on the 5×4 power play by scoring his second of the quarter, pushing Yolo’s lead to 8–5. Though Lōkahi managed a late goal, Yolo’s defense held firm down the stretch to preserve the 8–6 victory.
